What People Say

Most Liked

Customers rave about La Escondida's swift service; the staff works diligently to ensure your experience is enjoyable without long waits. The café excels in breakfast, with many praising the huevos rancheros and chorizo, which come highly recommended as must-try dishes. Freshly brewed coffee adds to the morning magic, keeping patrons engaged and energized. The casual, welcoming atmosphere fosters a sense of community among diners, while the affordability of meals (most costing between $10 to $20) makes La Escondida an appealing choice for all budgets. Finally, the café's ability to accommodate families, including a kids' menu and high chairs, earns significant appreciation from visitors.

Most Disliked

Despite being a local favorite, some guests express discontent about the café's limited dinner hours, as it's often less crowded in the evenings compared to bustling lunchtime. Occasionally, during peak hours, patrons have noted longer wait times for tables, especially on busy weekends. Additionally, while many enjoy the food, a few have remarked that certain plates like the pancakes could benefit from a bit more flavor, describing them as average compared to the more standout savory options. Lastly, the cozy seating arrangement may feel a bit cramped during crowded periods, which could detract from the overall dining experience.

The name says it all. I was told it means "hidden place". If you don't know about this little diner you may never know it's there. I forgot how we discovered the place but 15 years ago we dined here many times and I was happy to see it's still here. Love the chorizo and eggs and huevos rancheros too. It's mostly a local crowd here so you know its good. Service is quick and attentive and also very friendly. It's just a couple of miles west of Main on Second street so be sure to stop in for some great food.

This place actually deserves 5 stars. Perfect experience. Food was amazing. Service, unbeatable. One girl was running the entire cafe by herself - hostess, waitress, busser, takeout orders, and everything. It was incredible. Give this woman a raise. Double her pay. She was doing the job of 4 employees. My coffee never even got cold. Best wait service I've ever seen (and I spent years in the industry). On top of all that, she was the sweetest; taking time to have small conversations with the elderly guests and always cheerful and pleasant. Her name is Rachel. Give her a raise and a huge bonus or I'm going to start a restaurant and steal her. 😆

This is one of the best hidden gems in Roswell! The food was out quickly, tasted phenomenal, and the service was excellent! I had the shredded beef taco and it was so so good (don’t forget to add an egg!).

I was impressed with my chicken/steak fajita combo for $15.99. I can say I have never had cheese on top of my fajitas. The cheese just melted as I was cutting up my meat. The refried beans were the best I've had in years. I will be back. Please check the hours, because I believe they close at 3pm

Well the atmosphere says it’s all about the food! We sat at the only two seats available-the counter. Didn’t get his name but our server was spot on with the one liners and the attentive service. The food!!! We both got the ‘South of the Border’ breakfast. The best chorizo and eggs ever! The vegis mixed in gave it just the right amount of heat and flavor. Idk how they do it, but the lady next to me agreed their beans are so good! If I lived here I’d go back and try everything on the menu. Next time thru!

Third time here. Have to say this place has amazing food that taste very close to my mom's cooking growing up. I ordered the Enchiladas Empalpadas with Ground Beef, Red and Green sauce. Amazing!Ingredients and quality are always on point. Service is excellent. Place has a mom and pop feel. I will definitely be back!

This is an authentic local Mexican diner. Great Mexican food at value prices with large quantities, and the service is great. This is where the locals go. Nothing special about ambiance, but who cares. This is my favorite breakfast spot in Roswell.
